Monitor

Monitor

VSEC Monitor is where you aim Beacon, VSEC’s deterministic risk overseer. Beacon watches a baseline out of the box — incomplete risks, stale scores, stalled evidence, untreated high-severity risks, uncovered assets, and flagged BOM countries of origin — and Monitor is where you review what it finds, tune or disable the rules behind those findings, and triage external signals (feed articles and manual notes) into risk evidence.

Open Monitor from the sidebar, or click View in Monitor on the Beacon card at the top of Risk Manager.

Core Concepts

Findings

The Findings page is Beacon’s read-only worklist — every current finding, grouped by the rule that produced it, with severity filters and, where a finding has a link target, a one-click link to the affected risk or signal.

External Signals

The External Signals page is an inbox of feed articles and manually added notes, automatically matched against your assets. Triage a signal by attaching it as evidence to an existing risk or raising a new Monitor risk from it.

Rules

The Rules page lists every rule Beacon can run, each with an enable/disable switch and, where relevant, configuration fields — like the country list on BOM country of origin, or the keyword list on external-signal watching.

How It Fits Together

Beacon’s scan is deterministic and free of AI — it runs regardless of which Intelligence provider (if any) is configured. The one exception is Beacon’s analysis, an AI-generated insight shown on matched external signals when Intelligence is configured; without a provider, Monitor falls back to the plain deterministic match.

Findings that reference a risk deep-link to that risk in Risk Manager; external-signal findings deep-link to the signal’s page in External Signals. Findings that concern only an asset — like an uncovered asset — are informational rows with no link. Triaging a signal into a new risk creates a Monitor-type risk on the asset you choose.

Permissions

Access to Monitor is governed by its own Monitor permission block. The tool appears in the sidebar only for users who have been granted Monitor permissions, and the Monitor block must be enabled for the workspace. Permissions are assigned by your workspace administrator. Monitor’s actions additionally check Risk Manager permissions — viewing rules requires Risk Manager read access, and editing rules or triaging signals requires Risk Manager update access.
